| Nov. 29th, 2009 01:23 am yayage last suitcase unpacked!
guest towels in dryer being fluffed in readiness
guest duvets get sorted tomorrow
loo roll holders and bins for cleaning products done
have located the last of the tech
Now, I *could* go swimming tomorrow, but my foot is still achey and my shoulder is still gubbed from lugging boxes. So Monday, I reckon. For although the boxes and cases are empty, I couldn't claim things are *tidy* and I could use a day on shoes, the airing cupboard, and paperwork.
Then, we shall begin Xmas shopping...
3 engineer visits and 3 nagging calls later sky still not working right, btw. But they can have a break until Monday too. 2 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 26th, 2009 10:17 am why yes, something else DID just go t*** up in the house, thanks for asking! After 3 visits, 2 dished, 3 signal meters and lots of new cable, sky man got sky to work
sparkie just arrived. new oven is 2 inches too deep to fit as gas pipe is in the wrong place. So I need a joiner to change the shape of the cabinet and lower everything 2 inches and fit a new bit; a different oven (at an additional £600); or a gassafe man to move the pipe.
It will work for now and not fall out, apparently, so that is the plan. I will ask the British Gas man his opinion when he comes to service the boiler next month. Which had damn well better not need replaced.
Am waiting until electician has finished his other jobs before I have a cry. 2 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 24th, 2009 03:50 pm more progress everywhere that should have a lampshade, has one
every loo seat is now changed. bloody 10 inch screws with wing nuts. ouchy.
everything rubbish collection people need to take on saturday is in the garage. I commend cheap clearance and recycling company to people with too much stuff, it is much cheaper than a storage rental.
people coming over at 6:30. They will be having beans on toast, and beer. I have beans. I need bread and beer. And maybe cake. 4 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 24th, 2009 10:20 am Oven I am having a zanussi oven as they can deliver it tomorrow, and man can make it fit on Thursday.
Man is also coming to put more sockets in places. And maybe a tv ariel socket. But not this week, maybe next, which is ok as he is mate of mate and can be left with keys while I get on with life.
I am having this oven as it fits the space and can be delivered tomorrow; which is a shame as it is designed for giant turkeys which I will not make. Baking will be rarer and giant to get value, and then frozen for lazy days.
Now to do battle with doctors as I attempt to register; and then on to far flung homebases to get a matching shelf unit.
Guests for dinner. Hope they like take out... 2 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 22nd, 2009 09:49 pm almost there a slightly less strenuous day today but still got lots done!
gaspodex did LOTS of tech (tv and many inputs, pc, and upstairs tv will old ps2 and dvd player for parents/ children who are visiting) and I now have working freeview, surround sound, and lots of things to watch (inc dr who at last!)
gaspodia and I did some shelf building. if you dont count the boxes behind the lounge door which you can't see I now have 3 box free rooms. And that makes 3 to go. I think I need to build one more set of shelves to accomplish box free-ness; then after next payday, I will get someone to clear out the garage, and everything will be done!
I managed to freecycle some bits and pieces today but no one wants big furniture, not even the charities that want furniture, apparently.
I should be fully open for visitors by new year.
Best of all, I only need to get up at 7:45 to be in the office for 8:30am. yay!
I have manay moving bruises so am leaving swimming for another week. I bruise very large and very easy - and I dont want anyone feeling they need to call the social worker just in case!!
Mmm. fresh apple and carrot juice for brekkie I think! Leave a comment

| Nov. 21st, 2009 08:29 pm 5 days in... house still full of boxes
kitchen all don (except gubbed oven)
master bedroom has no packing boxes in it. It has almost all my clothes in it (barring winter coats). Clothes need a clear out but still, pretty good!
And I am so glad for my inversion table as back a bit achey! (as are legs, why did i buy a townhuse??)
tomorrow - sky man, grocery delivery, possible shelf building (dvd and book boxes still very very full)
I am delghted my old old shelves a) fit perfectly under the stairs, to the inch! and b) fit perfectly into main bedroom 9althugh the wrong colour but have covered them with books)
longer term I will need to sort out a chest of drawers or something for jumpers. or a bonfire.
hello rest of world!! are you still out there? 5 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 21st, 2009 11:25 am Update post Comet small update
I have appliances. They seem to be working. They are all A rated for efficiency. Yay.
Sometimes the gods allocate me a task. I was trying my filter jug in the fridge door for size, closed and opened the door, and water went everywhere. The gods wanted me to mop the floor, clearly.
I have arranged my utilities DD and for once, asked them to take more money than they were asking for, cos it's winter and I dont want a huge summer bill!
Kitchen is looking good, just need to remove the extra bits now (suitcase o'wires and bag of mystery)
Upstairs for clothes now; Then out to purchase more storage, if it will fit in the car.
I don't remember it being this tiring 10 years ago. But then, it was 10 years ago.
Looking forward to having room to use my inversion table.
Feeling happy about my emergency escape ladder :-) 2 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 21st, 2009 08:59 am ouch. I slept in a proper bed last night which was wonderful, and woke up naturally despite the black out blinds.
Still really tired. would go back to bed but appliances due soonish. However they will have to cope with my pjs as I cannot really be bothered moving to bathroom for shower yet.
The kitchen is starting to look really good! I even have cupboard space left for food shopping's arrival.
Todays tasks minor - call utility company medium - do some washing(assuming machines works/ cry (if machines dont work) major - main bedroom. 5 boxes to go and purchase of one additional clothes rail required. Will homebase after delivery. Wish we had a local B&Q, they are much better generally, but it's a 20 minute drive and I am too tired. Homebase is 4 minutes.
Having hot chocolate from my dolce gusto machine. I have missed it! Leave a comment

| Nov. 20th, 2009 06:42 pm removal company day I have stuff.
I am happy to have stuff including my dehydrator and my proper coffee maker.
I do not know why I have 4 kettles. or 2 toasters. or a tent. or as many sleeping bags as I do. or golf clubs, or a wonky old guitar.
they must go.
I do not know why I have a garage full of stuff, and I need to work out how to get rid of it seeing how the ONLY thing people want on freecycle is my old freeview box. (camping washing machine, sideboard, crockery - no.)
I am going to have to pay someone to remove stuff, I think. Anyone any idea how big a skip I need for a small garage?
and - gaspodia is the most amazing friend. calm, and brings catering.
more unpacking tomorrow, and washng machine arrives! Leave a comment

lighting man been. I can now see in the kitchen! couple of small holes to fill in ceilings, not too bad

I am so tired I dont know how I will manage upstairs for my PJs. so very, very tired... eyes bad too
